Spend the day in La Alpujarra among white villages and the landscape of Trevélez

To the south of Sierra Nevada, where the mountain begins to dissolve into valleys and ravines, La Alpujarra preserves one of the most unique ways of life in Andalusia. Our route from Granada delves into the heart of the Barranco de Poqueira, crossing the historic Puente de Tablate, an ancient natural entrance to this mountainous region. From there, the landscape becomes more intimate: tighter slopes, villages suspended over the valley, and the constant sound of water flowing through the land.

In Pampaneira, the narrow streets preserve traditional Alpujarra architecture among artisan shops and cold water fountains. In Pórtugos, the Fuente Agria emerges in the middle of the forest with its characteristic reddish color. And in Trevélez, the highest village in La Alpujarra, the dry and clean air of the mountains continues to slowly cure hams in open drying houses facing the mountain.
