Excursion to Caminito del Rey, walkways over the void from Granada

Caminito del Rey is not a conventional hiking route. It is a path built at the beginning of the 20th century so that the workers of the Chorro reservoir could move along the vertical walls of the Desfiladero de los Gaitanes, in the interior of Málaga. Restored and reopened in 2015, its walkways anchored in the rock run at more than 300 meters above the Guadalhorce river, with the natural canyon opening up at every turn of the route. It is one of the most photographed paths in Andalusia and one of the most spectacular geological settings in southern Spain.

Our excursion departs from Granada by minibus with an expert guide who accompanies the entire day in Spanish and English, connecting the landscape with its history, its geology and the anecdotes that do not appear on the signs. Admission to Caminito del Rey is included. The full route follows a linear path along the gorge walkways to the natural exit of the trail, with the Sierra de Huma as a permanent backdrop.

4. Difficulty: The route is linear along walkways with some narrow sections. Closed sports shoes with good grip and comfortable clothing are recommended.
5. Vertigo: The route takes place at great height above the void. Not recommended for people with severe vertigo.
