Description
Ronda is one of the oldest cities in the Iberian Peninsula and one of the few that justifies a full-day excursion from Granada. Suspended over a gorge 120 meters deep, with Iberian, Roman, Arab, and Castilian roots layered in its urban fabric, and with a bullring that is the documented origin of modern bullfighting, Ronda concentrates in a few square kilometers a historical and visual density hard to find in Andalusia.
Our excursion departs from Granada at 9:00 AM from the Plaza Mariana Pineda with transfer and expert guide included throughout the journey. Our itinerary covers the Tajo and the Puente Nuevo, the symbol of the city built in the 18th century over the gorge that separates the old city from the new; the Real Maestranza de Caballería, the oldest bullring in Spain where Pedro Romero, the bullfighter who established the rules of foot bullfighting as we know them today, performed; and the Old Town, with its maze of cobbled streets, viewpoints, medieval churches, and stately mansions that preserve the imprint of each civilization that inhabited the enclave. The day includes free time to explore the city at your own pace before returning to Granada.
