Flamenco Show at Zambra María la Canastera in Sacromonte

María la Canastera is not just any tablao. It is the original home of María Cortés Heredia, the bailaora from Sacromonte who in the second half of the 20th century turned her cave into one of the references of Granada's gypsy flamenco on an international level. More than fifty years later, the direct descendants of the family keep the space alive as a cave-museum and stage for performances, with a limited capacity of 60 people that preserves the intimate scale that has always distinguished this enclave from the rest of the tablaos in Sacromonte.

The show lasts for one hour with a cast of between 6 and 8 artists performing the Gypsy Zambra in its traditional format, the style unique to Sacromonte that maintains a distinct identity from flamenco in other Andalusian regions. The cave-museum allows visitors to explore the personal and artistic space of La Canastera before or after the show, with objects and photographs documenting decades of flamenco history in the Sacromonte.
