Description
This day connects two of the most fascinating natural areas in inland Andalusia, offering a perfect contrast between protected wildlife and the most unique geological landscapes in southern Europe: Lobo Parque de Antequera and the karst area of El Torcal. Accompanied by our nature guide, the route is designed as a didactic and rigorous immersion into the relief and ecosystems of the Andalusian territory.
The first stop takes place at Lobo Parque, a unique research and conservation center dedicated to the Iberian wolf and other subspecies. The design of the enclosures allows visitors to observe the social behavior, communication and habits of these canids in semi-free conditions that scrupulously respect their well-being. The visit helps to understand the wolf's fundamental ecological role as a superpredator within the Mediterranean ecosystem, moving away from historical commercial myths.
Later, our route continues to El Torcal de Antequera, an impressive limestone landscape declared World Heritage by UNESCO. Here we take a guided walk of approximately 1.5 kilometers along paths surrounded by whimsical rock formations shaped by water and wind erosion over more than 150 million years, since the Jurassic period.
After finishing the karst exploration, we have free time for lunch at the local establishments, ideal for trying traditional dishes from the area such as porra antequerana. The experience ends with a stroll through the historic center of Antequera, a monumental city characterized by its Baroque and Renaissance heritage.
